Growing local poultry success through GSA partnerships

At SASSO, our Global Service Agreements (GSA) go far beyond supplying genetics. Through these long-term partnerships, we work closely with local companies to develop breeding programs tailored to their markets, combining genetic expertise, technical support, and local knowledge to create sustainable and competitive poultry solutions. We also maintain multiple partnerships of this kind around the world, particularly across Asia.

One example is our longstanding collaboration with CHIN TAI in Taiwan. Since 1996, this partnership has supported the development of the Tudji product, a traditional local chicken highly appreciated by Taiwanese consumers and deeply rooted in the country's culture. The Tudji is recognized for its blue legs, white-to-cream plumage, meat quality and taste, and heavier body type.

As part of this collaboration, SASSO, backed by the genetic expertise of Hendrix Genetics, supports the continuous improvement of the local breeding program by combining global genetic know-how with CHIN TAI's deep understanding of the Taiwanese market. The objective is to enhance parent stock performance while preserving the characteristics and production results valued by local consumers. As a result, the SASSO × CHIN TAI cross achieves a peak lay rate of around 80%, compared with approximately 50% for local parent stock lines, making it a highly competitive solution for the Taiwanese market. At the same time, the commercial product maintains the growth performance and body weight expected by the market, typically reaching 2.8 to 3.6 kg at 11 to 12 weeks of age.

Over the years, the partnership has expanded across the entire value chain, from genetic development and GP production to PS production and customer support. Regular field visits and technical exchanges help demonstrate performance, share expertise, and build confidence among producers. This collaborative approach is a key factor behind the long-term success of the Tudji product.

Today, nearly three decades after the partnership began, SASSO and CHIN TAI continue to work together to strengthen traditional poultry production in Taiwan and create value for farmers and customers alike. Their journey demonstrates how GSA partnerships help combine global expertise with local market needs to achieve sustainable growth and long-term success.
